Conservatories

Britain is famous for its inclement climate, which is perhaps the reason why British people spend so much time talking about the weather and drinking themselves in to a stupor. It's also the reason why so many new conservatories are being purchased.

Although the recent recession has meant a contraction in the credit supply to individuals that they might otherwise we spending on home improvements like conservatories, they are actually very good value for the amount of benefits they bring. Rather than having to enjoy whatever patches of sunshine may appear during the day by going outside, only to be chased back inside a couple of hours later by the obligatory summer rain storms, people are able to enjoy the sunshine from the comfort of a proper chair that is sheltered from the ravages of the weather outside. This means that when the sun goes in and it starts to rain, you don't need to go anywhere, you can stay right where you are, at the worst flicking on a heater or putting on an extra jumper.

Having conservatories also allows people to enjoy sunshine at times of year where it's not very comfortable to sit outside. Really for half the sunny days of the year there is some additional weather feature occurring at the same time that you don't want to be exposed to, such as the cold or wind, and having a conservatory insulates you from this.
